Meta Partners with Microsoft to Bring Virtual Office of The Future In Metaverse.
Through its partnership with Microsoft, Meta Platforms will integrate Microsoft Office 365 into its virtual reality (VR) platform, aiming to attract businesses to work in virtual environments.
Allow Users to Gather in a Virtual Space In The Metaverse
The Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella spoke during Meta’s Connect 2022 keynote on Oct. 11 that the Teams app would be integrated with Meta’s “Quest” VR headset and “Quest Pro” VR headset, allowing users to gather virtually for meetings.
“At Microsoft we’re incredibly excited about the metaverse and how digital and physical worlds are coming together and transforming everything [including] the way we do work,” said Nadella.
Meta’s VR will also include familiar Microsoft productivity applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint. In the future, Nadella said, Windows Cloud computers can be streamed to Meta’s headsets.
Meta’s Quest and Quest Pro VR headsets will be compatible with Microsoft’s enterprise-level mobile device and identity management applications, Nadella said, enabling companies to manage and secure virtual reality headsets in their corporate networks.
Using Highly Anticipated Virtual-reality Headset By Meta
During the Meta annual Connect conference on Tuesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the Meta Quest Pro VR device is available for pre-order now for $1,499.
Compared with the Meta Quest 2, which costs $399, the new headset costs more than three times as much.
“This is a high-end device designed for work and people who want the best experience we can build today. We’ve built Quest Pro to be the best device we can make for getting things done,” said Zuckerberg.
As part of the headset’s new features, it comes with a charging dock and controllers that are also capable of serving as virtual whiteboard markers.
In addition, as technology advances, users will be able to communicate in virtual spaces with avatars that more closely mimic their emotions and expressions.
