Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) Hires High-Profile Attorney Mark Cohen

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) Hires High-Profile Attorney Mark Cohen.

On December 6th, Sam Bankman-Fried’s spokesperson confirmed publicly that the former FTX CEO had hired prominent white-collar defense attorney Mark S. Cohen to represent him.

Hiring Mark Cohen

Although he had not yet been formally charged by authorities with any wrongdoing, the collapse of his exchange FTX has caused SBF to become the center of attention, with the SEC and DOJ probing his now-bankrupt exchange.

Mark S. Cohen himself is an extremely high-profile attorney who had previously handled other high-profile cases, including representing the infamous Ghislaine Maxwell during her sex trafficking case.

Bankman-Fried has since confirmed that he had hired Cohen as his attorney in a recent live Twitter Spaces interview. SBF has also addressed questions on how he will pay for the attorney fees, confessing he wasn’t exactly sure either.

In terms of paying legal fees, I’m still working that out. I’m not sure if I will be able to pay all the legal fees.” SBF said.

Aside from SBF, it was revealed that Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison could also be in the process of hiring her very own defense attorney to represent her.

After having gone silent since news of FTX’s collapse, this week Ellison was spotted at a coffee shop in Manhattan, which many have pointed out was close by to the New York Attorney’s Office, leading many in the community to speculate that Ellison could be hiring someone to defend her in testifying against SBF himself.
