Amazon to Produce a Miniseries of FTX Collapse Collaborating with AGBO Production.

A miniseries on FTX’s collapsed cryptocurrency exchange and its late CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is in the works at Amazon, even though real-life effects of the collapse have yet to manifest.

Produced by the directors behind Marvel’s “Avengers” franchise

ABGO, the production company headed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame” and Netflix’s “The Gray Man,” will develop and produce the eight-part series of FTX.

Additionally, the Russo brothers are in discussions to direct as well as executive produce the series.

The Amazon miniseries will be executive produced by Invasion co-creator Dave Weil, which has yet to be titled and illustrates how Bankman-Fried co-founded FTX and eventually led it into a liquidity crisis that ultimately led to his ouster.

The Russos worked with many of the stars in Avengers: Infinity War and other Marvel blockbusters, and Amazon is rumored to be interested in many of them. Amazon has not announced casting or showrunners yet.

The plot

Bankman-Fried, described by the Russo brothers as an extremely mysterious figure with complex and potentially dangerous motivations, took part in one of the most brazen frauds ever committed, the collapse of FTX.

In addition,  the story would almost exclusively focus on a group of young people running a crypto up until it crashes and burns. Since the Russos are known for their action and superhero films, it would be interesting to see how they take on such a narrative.

The Russos felt the catastrophe at FTX is ideal for dramatization, and Amazon Studios CEO Jennifer Salke deemed Weil and the Russo the best collaborators for bringing this complex story to Prime Video viewers around the world.

“It crosses many sectors-celebrity, politics, academia, tech, criminality, sex, drugs, and the future of modern finance. At the center of it all sits an extremely mysterious figure with complex and potentially dangerous motivations. We want to understand why,” said the Russos.

In addition to the Russos, the series also has AGBO’s Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes, as well as Natalie Laine Williams as an executive producer.
