Starbucks To Offer NFT-Based Loyalty Programs For A Better Coffee Experience.
Starbucks (SBUX) will start to offer a non-fungible token (NFT)-based loyalty program which will be supported by blockchain technology from Polygon.
New WEB3 Platform Called Starbucks Odyssey
Polygon is a decentralised Ethereum scaling platform that provides developers with a simple, scalable way to build dApps that are user-friendly while keeping transaction fees low.
Previously, Starbuck has unveiled Starbucks Odyssey on September 12 that will enable customers in the United States to purchase and earn digital collectible assets, in this case NFT that provide new benefits and mesmerize coffee experience.
“Leveraging Web3 technology will allow our members to access experiences and ownership that was not possible before. Starbucks Odyssey will transcend the foundational benefits that our Starbucks Rewards members have come to love, and unlock digital, physical and experiential benefits that are uniquely Starbucks,”
Starbucks is one of the first companies to integrate non-fungible tokens with a loyalty program on a large scale.
“Starbucks has always served as the Third Place, a place between home and work where you feel the warmth of connection over coffee, community and belonging. The Starbucks Odyssey experience will extend the Third Place connection to the digital world,” added Brewer.
NFT Loyalty Program Using Polygon
NFT-based loyalty program will be built on Polygon’s proof-of-stake network, a scaling tool built on top of the Ethereum network.
A Web3 experience was hinted at by Starbucks in May when it announced to release a series of new NFT collections that would provide “unique experiences, community building, and customer engagement.
The Starbucks Odyssey experience will launch later this year, and customers can join the waitlist starting from Sept. 12.
