Disney Open a Job for Corporate Attorney to Work on NFT and Metaverse.

Walt Disney may soon expand into the crypto space after posting a job for an “experienced corporate lawyer” who will work on “emerging technologies” such as non-fungible tokens (NFT) and the Metaverse.

Hiring People to Work on NFTs

In an employment listing on the Disney careers website posted on Sept. 23, the company is looking for a “Principal Counsel Corporate Transactions, Emerging Technologies & NFTs” to work on transactions pertaining to NFTs, the Metaverse, blockchains, and decentralized finance (DeFi).

It seeks someone who can provide “full product life cycle legal advice and support for global NFT products” and ensure that they comply with all applicable laws and regulations on US soil and abroad.

The position also involves providing regular legal advice on cryptocurrency matters, digital currency, and Disney’s efforts related to emerging technologies, as well as performing due diligence for NFT, blockchain, third-party marketplaces, and cloud providers projects.

The Walt Disney Has Been Slowly Engaging with Digital Assets

A new role comes as The Walt Disney Company continues to position itself around technology such as blockchain, crypto, and metaverse.

On the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call in November 2021, CEO Bob Chapek stated the firm was preparing a metaverse that combines physical assets and digital assets.

Several weeks later, the company filed a patent for a “virtual-world simulator,” referring to a possible metaverse for theme parks.

According to Disney’s patent application, visitors to its theme parks could generate and project 3D effects on nearby objects with their mobile phones.

A recent job listing may indicate that the “virtual-world simulator” patent is beginning to be used, even though there were no plans to use it at the time.

In its 2022 Disney Accelerator Program, the company selected six “growth-stage” companies to benefit from its business development platform, which focused on augmented reality (AR), non fungible tokens (NFTs) and artificial intelligence (AI).
