SBF Files For New Bail Application In The Bahamas

SBF Files For New Bail Application In The Bahamas.

SBF Files For Bail

On December 15th, local Bahamian media reported that the now jailed former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has filed for a new application for bail in the Bahamas Supreme Court just 2 days following his previously unsuccessful bail request.

This new bail application is said to be heard before the court in just over one month’s time on January 17, 2023.

On SBF’s previous bail bid on December 13th, his lawyers attempted to request for a bail set at $250,000, arguing that the former CEO should be let out due to him suffering from depression and insomnia, also arguing that SBF had no previous convictions. This request however was denied, with the judge calling SBF a “flight risk.”

SBF’s Current Condition

With Fox Hill prison,  being known to be a harsh prison, many in the community were curious about the current conditions of SBF and how he was being treated.

In response to this, Bahamas Acting Commissioner of Corrections Doan Cleare told Bahamas paper The Nassau Guardian Thursday that SBF was doing fine, and is currently undergoing assessment of health and risk of self-harm in the prison’s sick bay. “He is in good spirits,” Cleare said.

Cleare also explains that Bankman-Fried is currently being treated like any other inmate within the prison and that “he isn’t getting any special treatment.”

SBF will remain incarcerated at the Fox Hill prison until February 8th for his next scheduled court appearance.
