Here is the reason why the Tornado Cash developer’s wife is furious with the FIOD! In a recent interview, Ksenia Malik, the wife of Alexey Pertsev, shared her frustrations with the FIOD.
Ksenia Malik on Her Husband’s Arrest
Ksenia Malik previously confirmed her husband, Alexey Pertsev, is the developer of Tornado Cash. He was arrested last week in Amsterdam for his involvement with Tornado Cash by the Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD).
In a recent interview, Malik expressed her frustration with the FIOD for treating her husband like a dangerous criminal. Ksenia Malik also mentioned that her husband is not allowed to contact anyone, not even one short call.
Malik said in an interview with Cointelegraph, “He is kept in prison as if he were a dangerous criminal. It is very unexpected [for me] that a person can [be arrested] for writing open source code.”
In addition, she also thanked the community for supporting her husband as it shows people care about the matter and defend developers.
The Support for Alexey Pertsev
Since the arrest of Alexey Pertsev, the developer of Tornado Cash, the community is still buzzing about the news. Influencers, businesses, and users are voicing their views on social media.
On August 18th, 1inch Network, a DeFi aggregator, posted the support for Alexey Pertsev with a petition. 1inch Network wanted to help Pertsev out of jail while standing up for other developers.
2/ Alex is accused of creating open-source code that was used by @TornadoCash. But developers have no control whatsoever over how their code 💻 is subsequently used.
This could be the beginning of arrests of open-source developers because code might be used for illegal purposes.

1inch Network stated, “Developers have no control whatsoever over how their code is [subsequently] used.”
What is more interesting is that 1inch Network also will hold a protest rally in Amsterdam on August 20th. They ask people to sign a petition and join them in the protest.
The news about Tornado Cash does not seem to quit anytime soon. Now, the community is waiting for more updates on the matter.
