Google Adds A New Countdown Feature For Ethereum Merge!
Not only user and investors are waiting for the arrival of the Merge, looks like Google cannot wait for this to happen. Google has added a new feature to count down the upcoming Ethereum Merge as a sign of excitement and recognition. The Merge is expected to be launched in less than a week (between 10-20 September).
Typing the word of “The Merge” or “ Ethereum Merge” into Google’s search engine now display a countdown clock, next to it a cartoon of two happy pandas approaching to each others with outstretched hands, the current difficulty (Count of times the hashes must be calculated before a block of transactions is recorded), and the hash rate (The total computing power being used across the entire network).
“Hey @VitalikButerin @drakefjustin & other @ethereum folks, go google “the merge” for a fun little surprise & appreciation. Everyone is so exited for what is coming and appreciative of the work that has been going into this for years,” said Sam Padilla, a developer in Google Cloud.
He added that the timer updates the countdown in real-time by connecting directly to the blockchain.

Padilla also said that the notion was emerged within a few of weeks among employee at Google who wanted to make “some cool easter egg” for Ethereum trasition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake.
Additionally, if all goes according to plan, the two Pandas will merge into one panda, which will symbolize Ethereum’s successful transition.
Aside from Google, many people also interest in the Merge as it shows on recent Google serach data that over the last 30 days, searches for “Ethereum Merge” generated scores above 50 several times, reaching a peak of 100 on Sept. 3.
