Ex-FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) Will Be A Guest Speaker at NYT DealBook summit

Ex-FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) Will Be A Guest Speaker at NYT DealBook summit.

An upcoming New York Times summit will feature FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, according to a statement released on Wednesday afternoon.

Will be the Speaker as a Founder of FTX

A Twitter post on Nov. 23 announced Bankman-Fried would be speaking with The New York Times journalist Andrew Sorkin at the DealBook Summit “next Wednesday.”

“I’ll be speaking with @andrewrsorkin at the @dealbook summit next Wednesday (11/30),” said Bankman-Fried on Twitter

It has been confirmed that the founder of the now-collapsed FTX will be interviewed on Nov. 30 by Andrew Ross Sorkin, the founder and editor-at-large of DealBook at the New York Times.

“A lot of folks have been asking if I would still be interviewing @SBF_FTX at the @nytimes @dealbook Summit on Nov 30…The answer is yes. 👇 There are a lot of important questions to be asked and answered.  Nothing is off limits. Looking forward to it,” he tweeted.

It was announced in a press release that the New York Times’ annual DealBook Summit would be held Nov. 30 in New York City.

Among the interviewees and speakers listed on the summit’s webpage are Bankman-Fried, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, former Vice President Mike Pence, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Crypto community response

There have been some criticisms of Bankman-Fried’s free speech at conferences from members of the crypto community, who say he should be in custody instead of speaking freely.

“Let me make this clear if SBF isn’t arrested and charged with fraud, wire-fraud, theft, and possibly money laundering before and instead gets to spew out his bullshit narrative, our system of justice has been compromised. @ewarren you claim to be for the little guy, where are you,” said U.S. Attorney John Deaton and founder of Crypto Law.

A few crypto tweeters even wonder why NY Times invited him to speak, “Extraordinary that the @nytimes would hold up a known (currently alleged) felon who defrauded US citizens (& others) for billions! Makes you wonder whether the NYT is complicit or compromised in some way if they actually continued with his attendance…?.”
