Ethereum Merge will be here sooner than expected! Here are the details! On August 11th, Anthony Sassano, an independent Ethereum educator, hinted at the dates on Twitter.
‘The Merge’ Will Be Here Soon
To clarify, ‘The Merge’ is a change the Ethereum consensus will experience in which it changes from having a Proof-of-Work (PoW) system to Proof-of-Stake (PoS). Some in the community may already be familiar with the concept of Ethereum 2.0, which will use the PoS system, as it has been a long-awaited change for many years in the blockchain community.

In the last few weeks, rumors have been going around that the Ethereum Merge will happen on September 19th, but Anthony Sassano, an independent Ethereum educator, said differently in his Twitter post on August 11th.
The Ethereum mainnet merge has been tentatively scheduled for around September 15th/16th.

According to Sassano, The Merge may be here sooner than the initial predicted date. He said, “The Ethereum mainnet merge has been [tentatively] scheduled for around September 15th/16th.”
Sassano added that news of this change in date came from a call among the Ethereum developers who were discussing ‘The Mainnet Merge’ after the recent success of the Goerli testnet merge. Sassano ended his tweet by saying, “The Merge is coming.”
Leading Up to Ethereum 2.0
Ethereum only needs two more steps before completing its upgrade, which are known as the Bellatrix upgrade and the Paris upgrade, both of which will take place on September 6th and 15th, respectively.
The ETH Merge has been a big topic in the community for many years now, and with news that the change will take place very soon, many in the community have been expressing their excitement and bullish views on ETH through Social Media.
The community’s excitement has even helped to raise the price of Ethereum recently, with ETH’s price increasing by 14% only a day after the announcement of the successful Goerli testnet merge. Ethereum is now trading at a price of around $1,800, with predictions that it may even surge to above $2,200 following ‘The Merge’.
