Elon Musk Considers to Launch an Alternative Phone to Compete with Google and Apple.

It is possible that Musk will launch his own smartphone, which would compete with iPhones and Android phones, should Apple and Google remove Twitter from their platforms.

Apple and Google may remove Twitter from their app stores

Liz Wheeler tweeted that Musk should make his own smartphone if Apple and Google disallow Twitter.

“If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?,” she tweeted.

The plans Musk has for Twitter could cause Apple and Google to remove the social media service from their app stores because they are concerned about Twitter’s free speech nature.

Across all app stores, including Apple’s App Store, Google Play, and Amazon’s App Store, there are rules intended to protect users from discrimination, bullying, harassment, and objectionable content.

Several apps have been delisted due to inadequate content moderation practices and harmful content. Over 30,000 apps had been removed from Apple’s app store in 2020 due to objectionable content, the company said in a letter to Congress last year.

The post by Musk drew the attention of a number of users. “ I love Apple, but if Mr. Elon Musk manufactures cell phones, I will switch to them. I’m sorry, Apple,” said one Twitter user. 

The same meaning was also expressed by another user, “Me too, but I’m not sorry for Apple that missused my trust and heavy financial it investment during 12 years. End of the game. For the time being, I already went to the beautyful (products spec, performances and finition) of the south Korean #Oppo but it’s limited to existing OS.”

There were, however, a few twitter users who argued it would fail, “So what? Probably a failed product like Firephone by Amazon,” one Twitter user said.
