Blockchain Gaming Developer, Animoca Brands Raise $110 million In New Funding Round.
Animoca brands, a company focus on advancing digital property rights for the open Metaverse based in Hongkong, has announced that it has earned a strategic funding round about US$110 million.
“We are incredibly pleased to complete a special strategic round of fundraising comprising several of the most respected institutional investors in the world, and we are honored by the continued support from existing investors,” said co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu.
Acquire New Investor
In this round, Animoca Brands has acquired several new investors including Temasek, Boyu Capital, and GGV Capital, as well as existing investors Mirae Asset Management and True Global Ventures (TGV).
The Singapore-based Temasek Group is a global investment company that has a net portfolio value of US$297 billion (S$403 billion) as of 31 March 2022 and GGV Capital is a global venture capital firm that manages $9.2 billion in capital across 17 funds, investing in seed-to-growth stage companies.
Meanwhile, Boyu Capital Group manages over US$40 billion in assets, making it one of the world’s leading alternative asset management firms.

The New Investors Sit as Advisors
Together Temasek, Boyu Capital and GGV Capital created the strategic consortium of new investors. This consortium will provide advice to the Animoca Brand as it continues to grow bigger as well as build its organisational capabilities.
Among other things, they will engage and advise the Company on a variety of business issues as well as contribute to the business and capital plan.

With the new capital, Animoca Brands will continue to make strategic acquisitions, investments, product development, secure licenses for popular intellectual properties, and advance the open metaverse by promoting digital property rights for online users.
